If you look at the word BASICSKILL what do you do see?
I stole this from Beyond Strength Performance owner and coach, Chris Merritt.
Clearly he’s a genius.
And, this play on words is genius too. We often mistake the basics for “simple” and “easy” and this couldn’t be further from the truth.
The Athletic Position or ready position is a great example of this. It looks super simple and is one of the most important skills that every athlete should master because it puts them in a position to move in any direction quickly and efficiently.
Yet you would be surprised at how difficult this skill can be for some athletes. We can’t assume they know how to properly get in this position without some coaching.
In this weeks video I go over how I coach the Athletic Position.
Give it a looksy and if you have any questions drop them in the comments section below.
Okay, now go forth and be great.
* In this video I’m speaking directly to young athletes, but the reality is the athletic position should be a skill that everyone (yeah I’m talking to you) should have in their arsenal. Why? because life is “athletic.” We aren’t just sitting idle – we’re are constantly moving and being active. So whether you’re currently playing a sport or not – the athletic position is the foundation of all athletic movement.
