Soccer Social

You can stop holding your breath. The latest Soccer Social is here. The past week gave us the excitement and social media frenzy that surrounds the MLS Cup. The Portland Timbers and Columbus Crew met in Columbus for the Philip Anschutz Trophy. The US Women's National team had a trying week which included an injury and further field quality issues.

The always quality MLS Social Media team whipped up this little Vine for the weekend's festivities.

Two early goals from the Timbers would prove enough as the Crew were only able to snag one goal back. With the 2-1 victory the Timbers earned the right to champagne and Bieber in the locker room after the game.

Beverages were spilled. Hugs were given. Primal yells went into the night. Your typical post championship locker room frenzy.

Let's get this 🏆🍾 party started #MLSCup #RCTID

Here's Darlington Nagbe looking like an adorable 10 year old who just won the spelling bee and made everyone proud.

Upon their return to Portland, the Timbers were greeted by a raucous crowd at PDX.

Speechless. What a scene at @flypdxairport. Thank you. #RCTID #MLSCup #OnwardRoseCity

Tuesday, the championship parade commenced in Portland and Lucas Melano gave us the view from the Timber's float.

The Columbus Crew will most certainly be back if the young Will Trapp continues his ascent.

Also, any team that is supported by this guy can go home feeling like a winner. #woofty

The Women's national team had some sad news as Megan Rapinoe went down with an ACL tear.

The next day, the USWNT cancelled their match in Hawaii due to poor field conditions. The repeated disrespect and Rapinoe's injury finally prompted them to say enough is enough. Thankfully the United States Soccer Federation agreed and apologized for the sub par conditions. Hopefully these poor field situations in women's soccer will begin to improve.

Not all the news out of Hawaii was bad. It is Hawaii after all. Mahalo everyone. Have a great week.

Mahalo for the good vibes and aloha spirit, Hawaii 🌺 Can't wait to be back!
