Soccer Social

This week in Soccer Social brings you Ella Masar of the Houston Dash in her Halloween best. An announcement from Eddie Johnson. Brek Shea is adapting to his new responsibilities as a Dad. Didier Drogba provided the internet with the hottest meme since Hotline Bling and more!

Brek Shea seems to be embracing fatherhood with aplomb. Tasked with babysitting he decided to hit the links anyway and get young Phoenix acquainted with the front 9.

Ella Masar and her dog Max dressed in their Halloween best for this quick pic. Max that tie, you absolute dog you.

The Beslers headed out into the KC fall and got a few professional pics taken. Whaddya think, on the mantle or in the foyer?

Family Sunday. #FOE. Thanks for the photos @maylynphotography

Now begins the Drogba portion of this segment of Soccer Social. It is quite substantial. After securing a vital first leg win in their playoff series against the Crew the Quebecois couldn't help but celebrate postgame...

However, the most memorable moment of the night came when Drogba seemed to get confused and perhaps think he was suddenly Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson. This video shows his not so smooth takedown of the Columbus Crew's goalie, Steve Clark.

What resulted was a firestorm of memes and gifs of the #DrogbaLegLock. Soccer Social has a propensity for creating erroneous awards, sooo to commemorate this occasion, we have awarded Drogba with MLS' most giffable moment of 2015! Congrats Didier. Below are a few of the best examples the internet had to offer.

After a fairly predictable, but still annoying slight from ESPN regarding the "major" sports, the Sporting Kansas City twitter account channeled its inner Remy Boy for this tweet...

Kelley O'Hara does her best Team Rocket impression and is BLASTING OFF AGAAAAIIIINNN! Please forgive my Pokemon reference...

Finally, Eddie Johnson officially announced his retirement from professional soccer this week. The heart condition that took him out of the lineup last year is causing the 31 year old to hang up the boots. Eddie has expressed his excitement about the next stage in his life which may include coaching in Florida. As always, he gives an excellent shout out to his two kids Zoe and Elijah after they joined him at DC United's halftime celebration of his career.
