Soccer Social

Huzzah! It is Wednesday and Soccer Social is back to catch you up on soccer news and what your favorite athletes have been posting on social media. This week, Sydney Leroux did some serious shopping. Tommy Meyer and his buddies hit the surf. Mix Diskerud returned to his (half?) homeland. UEFA Champions League gave us a few hilarious gaffes and the NWSL Final was set.

Brad Evans kicks things off with classic lake pic featuring an American flag and #boats. What a patriot.

UEFA Champions League is back and we were gifted two hilarious moments. To begin with, poor Lukas Podolski has sure fallen from once great heights. Here he is completely duffing a shot and subsequently falling on his face. Podolski's club Galatasaray ended up losing 2-0 to Atletico Madrid. womp womp wooooomp.

In Real Madrid's 4-0 victory over Shakhtar, Sergio Ramos made sure to make the headlines with this spectacular dive. SB Nation gets kudos for the Fallon d'floor nomination. Lawl.

Shortly after the vine of Ramos's elegant dive went online this updated version was posted. It provides perhaps a better look at what really happened...

Although the NWSL originally stated there would be no expansion during World Cup and Olympic years it appears there will be a new team in the fold in 2016. Caitlin Murray broke the news that Orlando City is expected to be announced as the latest NWSL expansion club and will begin play in 2016. #Lions

Mix Diskerud and his hair appear to have ventured back to Scandinavia to enjoy their Norwegian roots.

Tromsø, Norway. Beautiful

Here is your latest update on the Leroux/Dwyer power couple. Apparently Sydney went dress shopping recently. She shared this pic of one of the dresses she didn't pick. One month to go before the wedding...

Tommy Meyer of the LA Galaxy posted a pic of either a random guy or himself just cruising around in the Pacific on a surfboard with two dogs. Just a couple a buds trying to catch a gnarly wave.

Room for one more?

Finally, the NWSL semifinals concluded on Sunday with FC Kansas City dispatching the Chicago Red Stars and the Seattle Reign defeating the Washington Spirit. Both games ended with 3-0 score lines and set up a rematch of last year's final.

Portland-bound! ☔️
