Wednesday has arrived so that means its time to see what the soccer social world has been up to during the past week. A new tattoo has riled up a bit of controversy. Brek Shea made an announcement in classic Brek fashion. Stuart Holden gave us a peek behind the scenes of his wedding and our friends Soccer Grl Probs had a birthday. Finally, nowhere is an arbitrary holiday more celebrated than on Social Media, it's NATIONAL DOG DAY people!!!!
Let's start with the bittersweet news... USWNT and Portland Thorn defender, Rachel Van Hollebecke, announced that she would be retiring at the end of this season. She is ready to begin a new adventure at UC San Diego Medical School. Best of luck on your new challenge Rachel. We are sure the white coat look will suit you just as well as the shinguard tan line.
Stuart Holden, American Soccer's heartthrob and heartbreaker, recently was married to the lovely Karalyn West. Just for funsies he gave us a little peek at the pre wedding pep talk and it looks SO COOL.
Our friends over at Soccer Grl Probs celebrated the 4th B-day of their hilarious navigation of the trials and travails of being a girl who plays soccer. They lay down an important rule in life, if you get caked in the face, throw someone in the pool. Quid Pro Quo...sorta
The New England Revolution had a bye week so what did Jermaine Jones do? He headed to LA and looked like a boss. The Jones' family has to be hands down the most fly family in American Soccer. I will fight anyone who says otherwise... #LATIME
Sparking a bit of controversy, Ashlyn Harris got an epic new tattoo of a skull wearing a headdress. Some reproached Harris for being disrespectful to the Native American community. She claims that she has Native American heritage and this tat and the dreamcatcher on her arm are to acknowledge her father's ancestry.
Just this morning Brek Shea posted quite the Instagram Pic. The Left Foot Studios and Orlando City man has always had a flair for the dramatic and this does not disappoint. Brek gonna Brek #PhoenixShea
Last, and possibly most importantly, today is an important day for America. For today, August 26th, as I'm sure you all know, is National Dog Day. So let us all come together and celebrate our pooches and pups, cat people stay inside. #NationalDogDay!!!!
