USWNT: Training, Fitness, Nutrition, Motivation

The U.S. Women's National Team kicks off their 2015 World Cup campaign today against Australia. In May, we released a special edition of Amplified Soccer a Athlete magazine to get inside the minds of the coaches and players, current and former, of the most physically fit and mentally tough team in the world. They told us what it takes to compete at that level, how the game has changed, the future of the technical side, and what motivates them to be the best. Take a look at some of our favorite quotes from each interview and piece to get pumped up for the largest and most talked about WWC to date.

In my mind, each one of us is capable of and set on earth for a unique and awe inspiring quest. If you haven’t done it yet, you can. It’s never too late. And if you want to, you will. It’s just a matter of wanting it badly enough.

In sports, you never know what drill or extra minute of training or coach is going to give you the edge you need to win a game, but the important thing is that you continue to do everything in your power for that potential marginal gain

We hope to inspire players to spend more time with the ball through this cultural and behavioral revolution.

You have to push yourself and do it when no one is watching. You have to be able to get to the next level by making mistakes, trying things and getting better. When you think you are tired you can always go more.

For soccer your training should reflect what you do in a game. I am not a fan of testing for testing’s sake, so I always like to relate any testing we do to the players game performance and training plan.
