Last week we heard from registered camper, Gillian Campbell, on how she works on her individual game and why she is excited for the upcoming Amplified Soccer Camp.
Today, the spotlight is on Dasia Torbert, a 13 year old from Dacula, GA playing with the Gol Soccer Academy (GSA). Dasia has been playing soccer for ten years now and is focused on not letting her goals out of sight.
We asked her questions about her individual training habits and what she's looking forward to most at the camp this June 12-14 in Powder Springs, GA. Here are her answers.
Q: Can you give us an example of how you try and improve your individual game during practice?
A: I listen to my coach to see what he thinks I need to improve, and then I focus on it at practice. When I practice a move or anything at anytime I give 100% and try to do my best.
Q: Can you give us an example of how you try and improve your individual game outside of practice?
A: I watch my game videos and try to fix what I did wrong. Or, I also know what I do wrong when I do a skill and just improve on it the next time I try the move. I also look for improvements by watching professional soccer games.
Q: What part of the Michelle Akers Training Camp are you most excited about?
A: To work with Michelle Akers again, and have the opportunity to work with the other coaches. I am excited to broaden my skill level while at this camp.
Q: In soccer, what is your ultimate goal? What are you doing to make that happen?
A: To be the youngest player to be called up to play on the national team. I keep my mind on the prize and make sure that no one gets in the way of me reaching my goals. I give 100% in practice and games and am always trying to get better.
Q: What is your favorite soccer memory?
A: Scoring my first header goal.
