Amplified Soccer has partnered with the Headers For Hope foundation in order to spread the love of soccer, as well as raising awareness for those diagnosed with cancer. Headers For Hope was founded in 2011 for three particular reasons:
- To honor every individual who has been diagnosed with cancer
- To honor every family member who has held the hand of their loved one being treated for cancer
- To honor all friends acting as a support system to someone who has been told the news they have cancer.
Louise Waxler, Founder of Headers For Hope who is also a long-time soccer professional created the foundation in loving memory of her dear friend whom sadly passed away after her two-year battle with this illness. Waxler combined not only her passion for sport, but her love and desire to truly play a role in helping those win their individual fights against cancer. From her vast experience within the soccer industry and the love of her friend, Headers For Hope was formed.
Headers For Hope has established this by incorporating the love of sport with the desire to help those in need. As a growing foundation since 2011, they have not only fundraised and given back for a good cause, but have also touched the lives of those who have been affected. Headers For Hope works with tournaments and teams across the country and within several sports to raise money, which is donated back to their local cancer charity. The love of sport will rage on constantly, but through foundations like Headers For Hope we hope to end the fight of those affected by cancer within our lifetime.
A Successful Fundraising Campaign
Since Headers for Hope is a non-profit foundation dedicated to help in the fight against cancer, they are committed to raising funds for research and giving back to local cancer charities. This past April, FlipGive an online fundraising site designed for both grassroots fundraising and corporate giving assisted in this fight against cancer by partnering with Headers For Hope to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and assistance. While teaming with six local affiliates: George Mason University, Loyola University, Ellicott City Soccer, University of Maryland, William & Mary, Naval Academy, and UMBC; FlipGive alongside Header For Hope started six campaigns in order to raise funds and awareness. At the end of these campaigns over $8,595 was raised for local cancer charities.
